Encouraging your cat to drink

Water intake matters for urinary health, so make drinking easy: place several bowls around the home, away from the food and litter tray, and consider a fountain for cats that prefer moving water. Adding some wet food also raises daily fluid intake. Watch the litter tray, and contact your vet promptly if your cat strains, passes small amounts often or shows blood in its urine, especially if it is male. Once your cat reaches seven, move gradually to a mature adult formula.
