The Dymax Shallow Aquarium is a low, wide glass tank made for aquascapers who want to build above the waterline as well as below it. With little water depth, driftwood, stones and emersed plants can rise out of the water, and many aquatic plants will grow and even flower in the open air. Set at a low height, the layout can be viewed from above like a small pond. The tanks are rimless, made from clear low-iron glass with very discreet silicone seams.

Choosing a tank size

Six sizes are listed, from a compact 45 x 24 x 18 cm tank with 5 mm glass up to 120 x 35 x 20 cm with 8 mm glass, with 60, 75 and 90 cm lengths in between; the bigger tanks use thicker glass. The 90 x 40 x 60 cm option is far taller than the rest, so treat it as a standard-depth tank. A low tank set at a low height can be enjoyed from above and looks much like a natural pond, and shallow water is quick to change and maintain. The deep front-to-back footprint gives a large water surface for oxygen exchange. Each tank uses high-clarity, low-iron glass with a rimless finish and almost invisible silicone joints.
