Maxspect Nano-Tech Bio-Sphere Negative Ion Filter Media is a ceramic biological filter media for freshwater aquariums only. Each sphere has a ceramic base blended with minerals that give off negative ions, which help keep the water close to neutral at around pH 7.0-7.2. The large surface area encourages bacterial colonies to form as thin films, including nitrifying genera such as Nitrosomonas and Nitrobacter, which supports biological filtration and clearer water. The spheres are fired for over six hours, making them hard and stable for years of use.
