How to set up a stable aquarium in a hot climate
Start with the tank size. A bigger volume of water holds its temperature and chemistry more steadily than a small one, so a 60 to 100 liter tank is often easier for a first aquarium than a nano. Pick a filter that turns over at least four times the tank volume per hour, then let it cycle for several weeks before adding most fish, testing ammonia and nitrite as it matures.

Heat is the main local challenge. In summer, a tank beside a window or in a room that is not cooled all day can climb well above 30°C, which lowers dissolved oxygen and stresses most tropical fish. Keep the aquarium out of direct sun and add cooling fans or a chiller if the room runs warm. A heater still earns its place, because a heavily air-conditioned room can fall below the 24 to 27°C range many tropical species prefer.

Tap water in the UAE is mostly desalinated and treated with chlorine or chloramine, so dose a water conditioner every time new water goes in. A weekly change of 10 to 25 percent, plus regular tests for pH, ammonia, nitrite and nitrate, keeps most tanks on track.
