Before you buy and set up

Only the T5 ballasts are built in, so plan to buy ballasts matched to the 250W metal halide burners before the fixture can run at full power. Because the two circuits switch separately, you can put each on its own timer, using the T5 tubes for a gentle morning and evening period and adding the metal halide for the brightest midday hours. Hang the unit higher at first when introducing corals, then lower it gradually over a few weeks on the adjustable cables, and keep the reflectors free of salt spray and dust.
