Aqualine T5 Reef Blue – 54W

aqualine T5 Reef Blue is intended for use in saltwater aquaria with the lamp emitting, almost exclusively, blue light in the spectrum between 400 nm and 500 nm, peaking at 420 nm. These wavelengths enhance the growth of many coral species. In addition, when combined with Reef White 10K or 15K they give the aquarium a most natural appearance.

Choosing and using tubes

Choose the 39W, 54W or 80W tube to match the wattage and length your T5 fitting is designed for; the tube must suit the fitting’s ballast, so check its label or manual before ordering. Reef Blue gives out almost only blue light, so on its own the tank looks very blue. For a more natural look, pair it with Reef White 10K or 15K tubes, often running the blue tubes a little longer at the start and end of the day. Keep the photoperiod consistent with a timer. Fluorescent tubes slowly lose output, so many reef keepers replace them on a regular schedule, roughly once a year, changing tubes one at a time so corals can adjust to the brighter light. Switch off and let the fitting cool before changing tubes, and keep the splash cover clean.
