The Aquarium Systems Bird Lamp is a fluorescent tube for pet birds with 2.4% UVB and 12% UVA for optimal avian use. It produces excellent natural colours and iridescence and can improve feeding and breeding behaviour. Use it with a fluorescent controller, and add a reflector to double the light output. Choosing the right tube

The four sizes follow standard tube lengths: 450 mm at 15W, 600 mm at 18W, 900 mm at 30W and 1200 mm at 36W, so check both the length and the wattage your fitting and controller are rated for before ordering. Mount it above the cage or aviary where your birds spend most of the day, with no glass or clear plastic in between, as these block UVB. Run it on a timer for a regular day length, and note the fitting date so you know when the yearly change is due.

Good to know

Replace the lamp at least once a year for the best results, as UV output falls over time.
