Choosing the wattage

Six outputs are listed: 50, 75, 100, 150, 200 and 300W. A common guide is about 1 watt per litre of water, so a 100-litre tank would take the 100W model, moving up a size if the room is cool or the tank sits near an air-conditioning vent. Place the heater where water flows past it, check the temperature with a separate thermometer, and always unplug it and let it cool before lifting it out of the water.
