Who it suits and setup

Sponge filters suit fry, shrimp, bettas and quarantine tanks, because the gentle flow cannot suck in small animals. Choose between the SF-100, SF-101 and SF-102 according to tank size and stocking; the SF-101 stands 19 cm tall including its outlet pipe, which can be cut shorter for low tanks. You will need an air pump and airline; fit a non-return valve if the pump sits below the water level. To clean, squeeze the sponge in a bucket of old tank water rather than tap water.
