Using it during water changes

Set the clamp on the glass and secure the hose before you start the siphon, so you have both hands free to work the gravel cleaner. When refilling, clamp the hose so the stream lands on a plate, rock or your hand rather than straight onto the substrate, which keeps sand and plants in place. It is just as useful for holding a filter return or a drainage hose in position. Even with the clamp fitted, never leave a refill running unattended, and check that the hose cannot kink, as pressure can push it loose.
