Choosing a pack and fitting

The 12-piece box suits a single canister or top filter, while the 100-piece box is the practical choice for sumps, trickle filters or several tanks. Place the media after the mechanical sponge or wool so debris does not clog its pores, and keep it in the path of the water flow. When upgrading an established filter, replace only part of the old biological media at a time so the existing bacteria can colonise the new pieces. It works in both freshwater and saltwater systems.

Good to know

Rinse in tank water before use, and only rinse in old tank water during maintenance to protect the bacteria.
