Compatibility and safe use

This is the genuine replacement power supply (article 7300368) for EHEIM classicLED lights and the light of the aquaclass66 aquarium kit, with an EU plug. classicLED units are sold with 12 W, 20 W or 36 W supplies depending on their length, so before ordering, read the rating on your old adapter and only choose this one if it says 12 W. Using a generic adapter is not recommended, because the low-voltage safety design and connector are matched to the light. If your light stops working, first check the socket, any timer and the connection between the cable and the lamp, making sure everything is dry, before assuming the supply has failed. Place the new unit outside the aquarium cabinet or high up inside it, away from splashes and condensation, and route the cable with a drip loop so water cannot run down it to the plug. classicLED lights are waterproof to IPx7 and work in fresh and sea water, but the power supply itself must stay dry. A plug-in timer gives your fish and plants a regular day of around eight to ten hours. Keeping a spare supply in a drawer is a sensible precaution if you rely on the light for a planted tank.
