The Exo Terra Terrarium Mini Fan is a small, near-silent fan that boosts ventilation inside a terrarium by moving stale air out and drawing fresh air in. Better air exchange keeps condensation and lingering fog off the glass, helps stop heat building up, and makes conditions less welcoming for mould, fungi and anaerobic bacteria. It can also be used to create changing humidity and airflow patterns like those in nature, and moving air helps tropical plants cope with heat. Running on low voltage at just 1 W, it is cheap to run and simple to fit.

Fitting and positioning it

The fan sits on the terrarium’s mesh screen, held by four pins, so no tools are needed. Whether it blows air in or draws it out depends on which way round you place it. Put it at the front of the screen to keep condensation off the glass, or towards the back to move stagnant air among plants. It connects through a soft silicone USB-A cable, so you will need a USB mains adapter or another USB power source to run it.
