Fluval Fx4/Fx5/Fx6 Bio-Foam 2/pk

Fluval Bio-Foam is a genuine replacement foam for the Fluval FX4, FX5 and FX6 canister filters. It traps debris as water passes through and gives beneficial bacteria a surface to colonise, providing both mechanical and biological filtration. This pack contains two pads.

Maintenance schedule

These pads fit the Fluval FX2 as well as the FX4, FX5 and FX6, so the same pack works across the series. Fluval recommends checking and cleaning Bio-Foam every three months and replacing it every six months, and it can be used in both freshwater and saltwater aquariums. To protect the bacteria living in the foam, avoid renewing the foam and the biological media at the same service; stagger the changes so some established media always stays in place. For extra chemical filtration, Fluval also makes a Carbon Foam in the same format.

Good to know

Rinse foam in old tank water rather than tap water, and replace it only when it starts to break down.
