Setting up the bowl

The three colours let you match the bowl to your setup: Red suits red desert sand, Ochre blends with sandy or clay-coloured substrates and Grey fits rocky or forest-style terrariums. Press the bowl slightly into the substrate so it cannot tip and your animal can climb in and out easily, and add a flat stone inside as a step for small amphibians. Keep the water shallow enough for your animal to stand with its head clear of the surface. Many reptiles and amphibians defecate in their water, so change it whenever it is soiled and scrub the bowl with hot water rather than detergent. Placing it at the cooler end slows evaporation.
