Fitting it securely
The Mini measures about 12 x 12 x 18cm, so check that your heat source fits inside with space all round; for larger lamps Hobby makes a 15 x 15 x 25cm version. It is designed to be fixed through the perforated metal sheet of a terrarium cover, using the brass thread and nut from Hobby’s ceramic holder connection set (item 37064). Hobby also points out that small reptiles may squeeze in through the access flap and strong ones may push it open, so securing the flap with a twist of wire is worth doing. Check the wattage limit on the pack against your heater before fitting.
Good to know
Fit the protector securely around the heat source, check it regularly, and always run heat emitters with a thermostat to avoid overheating.
