Treating algae effectively
Before dosing, look for the cause of the outbreak: long lighting periods, overfeeding and high phosphate are the usual culprits. Shorten the lighting to around eight hours a day, cut back on food and keep up regular water changes while treating. Wipe or scrape off as much visible algae as you can first, so the treatment has less to deal with. The 100ml bottle suits occasional use in a single tank, while the 250ml bottle is more practical for large aquariums. Check the label before combining it with other water treatments.
