Cleaning without scratches

Work the pad over the inside of the glass in small circular movements, which lifts green film and soft algae more evenly than straight wipes. The pad is chemically neutral and does not rust, so it is fine to leave it in the water while you work round the tank. The most important rule is to keep sand away from it: start at the top and stop a few centimetres above the substrate, because a single grain caught between pad and pane can leave a scratch. Rinse the pad before tackling the strip near the gravel. Cleaning once or twice a week stops algae hardening into spots that are difficult to shift.

Good to know

Use it on glass only, never on acrylic, and rinse the pad in tank water after cleaning.
