JBL ProFlora m502 CO2 Bottle

JBL ProFlora m502 is a CO2 fertiliser system for planted freshwater aquariums of up to 600 litres, built around a refillable CO2 cylinder. It supplies both fast- and slow-growing plants with the carbon dioxide they need. A pressure reducer doses the gas precisely and evenly, a bubble counter lets you see the rate, and an extendable diffuser spreads the CO2 through the water. A night switch-off stops the supply when it is not needed. The permanent CO2/pH test shows when the level is right, and a gauge displays the pressure left in the cylinder.

Making the most of the set

The night switch-off stops the CO2 supply when the aquarium lights go off, so connect it to the same timer as your lighting; plants only use CO2 in light, and switching it off at night avoids an unnecessary build-up. The pressure gauge shows the residual pressure in the cylinder, so you can see when a refill is due before it runs out. Stand the cylinder upright in its base, and adjust the bubble rate gradually until the permanent test shows the right value.

Good to know

The cylinder has overpressure relief and a stand to stop it toppling; keep it upright and away from heat. Screw-fit hose connections and a check valve keep the hose secure and stop water entering the cylinder.
