Fitting the right size
Nitrax comes in three sizes that follow Juwel’s Bioflow filters: M for the Bioflow M (3.0) in aquariums such as the Rio 125, 180 and 240, Vision 180, Lido 120 and 200 and Trigon 190; L for the Bioflow L (6.0) in the Rio 350 and Vision 260; and XL for the Bioflow XL (8.0) in the Rio 450, Vision 450 and Trigon 350. Juwel describes it as a biological medium that breaks nitrates down, reducing algae growth and supporting plants and fish. In the filter it comes after the bioCarb carbon sponge. As with all biological media, never replace it at the same time as the other sponges.
Good to know
Test nitrate regularly and keep up with partial water changes, as filter media works best alongside good maintenance.
