Choosing between the two

Both versions are made for long, thick and double coats, and both use stainless steel blades that will not rust. They work through mats, tangles and knots while keeping as much coat length as possible, and the handle can be set for right- or left-handed use. The 9-blade stripper, in green, is the one to choose if dematting is the main job. The pink version with mud cleaner adds smaller blades for combing out dried dirt and debris picked up outdoors, which suits dogs that often come home muddy. Work in short, gentle strokes, starting at the tip of a mat and moving towards the skin, and pause if your dog shows discomfort. Rinse and dry the tool after use.
