Maxspect Coral Putty 120g

Maxspect Coral Putty 120g is a silicone-based adhesive putty for attaching corals and frags in reef aquariums. It can be kneaded and applied under water and sets in about three minutes, so you can work without draining the tank. The formula is reef safe, does not cloud the water, has no unpleasant smell and will not make your protein skimmer overflow, which some putties can. Its coralline colour helps it blend into rockwork. It can also be used in freshwater aquariums.

Fixing corals step by step

Pinch off a small piece, knead it until soft and pliable, and press it firmly onto the rock first, then push the frag plug or coral base into it and hold steady for the few minutes it takes to set. A pea-sized amount is enough for most frags, so the 120g pack goes a long way. It grips best on clean surfaces, so brush any algae or slime off the spot before you start. Because it is coralline coloured, the joint blends into the rockwork as coralline algae spreads over it. Reseal the pack straight after use and keep it somewhere cool.

Wear gloves if you have sensitive skin, and only knead the amount you need, as mixed putty starts to set straight away.
