Feeding bloodworms well

Frozen bloodworms are midge larvae, and most tropical freshwater fish, from bettas and gouramis to tetras, barbs and many cichlids, take them eagerly. Pop out only the cubes you need and keep the rest frozen, as a thawed cube should not be refrozen. Thaw it in a small cup of tank water and pour off most of the melt water before feeding, which keeps excess nutrients out of the aquarium. Offer an amount your fish clear within about two minutes, and use bloodworms two or three times a week alongside a staple flake or pellet rather than as the only food. Dropping a cube near the bottom or into a feeding cone helps slower fish and bottom dwellers get their share, and siphon out any leftovers.
