Choosing a length

Three lengths are available: 4.6 m (15 ft) for first recall lessons and smaller spaces, 6.1 m (20 ft) for parks, and 9.1 m (30 ft) for distance work in large, open fields. Longer lines give more freedom but take more practice to handle, so start shorter if you are new to long-line training. Cotton webbing is softer on the hands than nylon and grips well, but it soaks up water, so let it dry fully after wet walks.
