Placing the wood

Choose the Small for nano and shrimp tanks, or the Medium as a centrepiece in a larger layout; as a natural product, the exact shape varies from piece to piece. The branching form works well placed towards a back corner, where it adds height without blocking the view. Tie Java fern or Anubias onto the branches with cotton thread, and use the shade underneath for plants that prefer lower light, such as Cryptocorynes. Shy fish and shrimp will use the branches for cover.

Good to know

Soak new wood before use until it sinks, and expect some tannins to tint the water at first; regular partial water changes and activated carbon will clear it.
