Testing and adjusting pH
Before dosing, test both pH and carbonate hardness (KH), as Alkaline Buffer raises alkalinity as well as pH and the right amount depends on your starting water. Seachem designs it to work with Acid Buffer: using the two together in different ratios lets you hold pH between their ranges, which is useful in planted tanks running CO2. Make changes in small steps, retest the next day, and treat new water before water changes so the aquarium stays stable. A 300g tub lasts a long time in most home aquariums. Keep the lid tightly closed so the powder stays dry.

Dissolve the dose in a little tank water before adding it, and raise pH gradually over several days to avoid stressing fish.
