Seachem PhosBond – 250ml

Seachem PhosBond is a strong, porous phosphate adsorber for fresh and saltwater aquariums. It removes phosphate and silicate, two nutrients that drive algae, and resists breaking down under mechanical stress in the filter. This is the 250ml pack.

Dosing and testing

Seachem describes PhosBond as ferric oxide coated aluminium oxide, combining two types of phosphate remover. The dose is 60ml for every 200 litres of saltwater or 400 litres of freshwater, so the 250ml pack holds about four doses and the 500ml about eight. Place it where water flows through it without the granules tumbling against each other, ideally in a filter bag. Test after four days: if phosphate has not dropped to around 0.02mg/l, replace it; otherwise leave it until levels start to rise. It does not release phosphate back into the water, and Seachem recommends small amounts used continuously rather than large amounts now and then.

Good to know

Rinse before use and place it in a filter bag with good flow. Replace when phosphate starts to rise.
