Seachem PhosGuard is a highly porous, bead-shaped phosphate and silicate remover. It binds these algae-feeding nutrients irreversibly, and its bead shape keeps water flowing freely through the media. It works best in saltwater aquariums. This is the 250ml pack.

Dosing and setting it up
Seachem’s rate is 85 ml (about a third of a cup) for every 200 litres of saltwater, or 400 litres of freshwater, so the 100 ml pack suits small tanks, 250 ml medium systems and 1 litre larger reefs or repeat use. Pre-wet it by adding it to twice its volume of freshwater, as it warms up on contact with water, then rinse and place it in a filter bag in a spot with good flow. Test phosphate and silicate after four days and replace it once levels start to rise. Seachem advises against using it in a tumbling media reactor, as it can create dust, and against phosphate-buffered freshwater.
Good to know
Rinse before use and place in a filter bag. In soft, poorly buffered freshwater, monitor pH while using it.
