Rearing container for fish

The sera breeding container is 2.5 liters (0.6 gal.) large and thus provides a large swimming space for the fry, which is essential for rapid and healthy growth. With a small quantity of sera biofibres it is also very suitable as a spawning container.

How to use it

The container sits inside your main aquarium and is designed for good water exchange with it, so the fry live in the same temperature and water quality as the rest of the tank while staying out of reach of hungry adults. That makes it handy for livebearers such as guppies, platies and mollies, whose young are often eaten soon after birth. Move newborn fry in with a small cup rather than a net, and feed them several small meals a day of a fine fry food, removing leftovers so the water stays clean. To use it as a spawning box, add a small amount of sera biofibres to give eggs and fry something to settle in. At 2.5 litres it is meant for juveniles, not adults, so do not keep a pregnant female in it for long periods, as the confined space can stress her. Release the young into the main tank once they are too large to fit in the mouths of the other fish.
