Who it suits and safe use

A 100W lamp with both heat and UV is designed for sun-loving species such as bearded dragons, uromastyx and tortoises, kept in roomy enclosures with space for a hot basking spot and a cooler retreat. Measure the basking temperature with a reliable thermometer and adjust it by raising or lowering the lamp, rather than running it through a dimmer, unless the instructions allow it. Never place it behind glass or clear plastic, which block UV-B, and remember that mesh tops also reduce output. UV output falls long before the lamp stops glowing, so replace it as the instructions advise. Make sure your animal can always move out of the light into shade.
