The Sicce Jolly Preset 12 is a 12 W plastic heater for small freshwater, marine and turtle tanks. Its reinforced plastic casing is fully submersible and unbreakable, which makes it a safe choice and means it can even sit beneath the gravel in turtle and reptile setups. An electronic thermostat switches the heater off once the water reaches the preset temperature, a red light shows when it is on, and built-in thermal protection stops it overheating if it is out of the water. Strong suction cups hold it in place.

Is a preset heater right?

The thermostat is fixed at 25°C, a comfortable temperature for many tropical fish, bettas and young turtles, but it cannot be adjusted, so choose an adjustable heater if your species needs warmer or cooler water. At 12 watts it is meant for small tanks, and how well it keeps up depends on the water volume, room temperature and whether the tank has a lid. Keep a separate thermometer in the tank to confirm the water is reaching the right temperature.

Always unplug the heater before lifting it out of the water or doing tank maintenance, and place it where water flows past it for even heating.
