Vitalis Mixed Reef Micronised Coral Food – 500 g

Vitalis Mixed Reef is a complete, palatable and highly digestible food for corals. The micronised flake is milled to mimic the fine particles suspended in natural seawater, which corals catch with their tentacles. Vitalis notes that research suggests feeding may improve photosynthesis by increasing the number of zooxanthellae in the coral, the algae that turn sunlight into the energy corals need to grow. It suits small polyp stony corals, soft corals and other filter-feeding species.

Pot size and feeding tips

The 500 g pot is aimed at large reef systems, frag tanks or keepers with several aquariums; for a single small tank, the 50 g pot is more likely to be used up while fresh. To give corals time to catch the particles, many reefers switch off the return pump and skimmer for a short while during feeding, or target-feed with a pipette. Keep the lid tightly closed and store the pot somewhere cool and dry.

Good to know

Mix a small amount with tank water and release it near the corals. Start sparingly and adjust to what your corals take, to avoid excess nutrients.
