Sizing your return flow

Flow from any return pump falls as the height from sump to display increases, so measure the vertical distance your water must travel and check the AP-1500 gives enough turnover at that head before buying. Place it in the return chamber, where the water level stays steady, and add a ball or gate valve on the return line so you can fine-tune flow and keep the overflow quiet. Leave a drip loop in the power cable.
