Before you fit it

Check the size stamped on your blade first: this cutter only fits the 10W and 30W detachable wide blades, not standard-width blades or other sizes. Replacing the cutter makes sense when the blade starts pulling or leaving uneven lines but the bottom comb plate is still straight and undamaged; if that plate is chipped or bent, replace the whole blade. Before fitting, clean hair and old oil from the blade body, then slide the new cutter into place under the tension spring with the teeth lined up, and add a drop of clipper oil. Ceramic is hard but brittle, so avoid dropping the blade on tiled floors and store it in a case between grooms. Running cooler means less risk of a hot blade on sensitive skin during long sessions, but still check the blade temperature with your hand every few minutes.
