How to run the test

Each test uses a 5 ml sample. Fill the tube to the marked line, add 8 drops from bottle 1 and then 8 drops from bottle 2 while holding the dropper upright, cap the tube and shake it hard for 5 seconds. Wait 5 minutes for the colour to develop, then hold the tube against the white part of the card in good light and match it to the freshwater or saltwater chart. API suggests testing several times a week for the first 4 to 6 weeks of a new aquarium and weekly once the tank is established.

Keep the reagent bottles capped and out of reach of children and pets. Any measurable ammonia is a sign to review feeding, filtration and your water-change routine.
