API Nitra-Zorb is a ready-to-use filter pouch that removes ammonia, nitrite and nitrate from aquarium water. It is made of natural and synthetic ion-exchange resins that selectively remove these toxins, and the pouch can be recharged with salt water and reused. This is a size 6 pouch.

Recharging and replacing the pouch

Nitra-Zorb is intended for freshwater aquariums and fits most canister filters. API’s recharge method is to dissolve 4 tablespoons (80 g) of API Aquarium Salt in 240 ml of warm tap water, soak the pouch for two hours and then rinse it lightly. In a new aquarium, or whenever ammonia or nitrite shows on a test, recharge every five days for the first month and then every two weeks; established tanks need recharging every two weeks. If nitrate is present, recharge every five days until it falls to 20 ppm or less. API advises replacing the pouch after two months, and the resin is phosphate-free.

Good to know

Rinse before use, place it where water flows through it, and recharge in salt water when it stops working.
