Where it fits in the filter

Place a layer of wool after the coarse sponges or ceramic rings, so the larger dirt is caught first and the wool can polish the water of the finest particles. A thin, loosely packed layer works better than a dense wad, which clogs quickly and slows the flow. Tear or cut pieces to fit your filter compartment, and change them as soon as they look grey or flow drops. Choose the 100 g or 250 g pack for small internal or hang-on filters, 500 g for canister filters, and 1000 g for sumps, large systems or several tanks. It is also handy for clearing cloudiness after setting up a tank or disturbing the substrate.

Good to know

Replace the wool when it becomes clogged rather than rinsing it, as it is a consumable.
