How many leaves to use

Nano leaves are sized for small tanks, so start with one or two in a nano aquarium or shrimp tank and add more if you want a deeper amber tint. They float for a day or two before sinking, then slowly break down, and shrimp graze the biofilm that forms on them. Betta keepers often add them to breeding or conditioning tanks, and in soft water they can lower pH slightly. Replace leaves every few weeks as they break down, or remove some and use activated carbon if the water becomes darker than you like. A pack of 12 covers several months in a small tank.
