When and how to replace it

A worn shaft usually announces itself with rattling or grinding, a drop in flow, or a pump that struggles to start. Unplug the filter, open the impeller cover, pull out the impeller and remove the old shaft and rubber bushings. Clean slime from the impeller chamber before fitting the new parts.
