Fluval 307/407 Nitrite Remover

Fluval 307/407 Nitrite Remover pads are made for the Fluval 307 and 407 performance canister filters. The nitrite resin-infused foam does double duty as mechanical filtration and chemical media, trapping debris and helping remove harmful nitrite.

When to use the pads

These pads are most useful while a filter’s biological stage is still maturing, for example in a newly set-up tank, after a heavy clean or when new fish have been added and nitrite readings start to climb. They fit the media baskets of the Fluval 307 and 407, and because the foam also traps debris, they work as part of the mechanical stage. Keep testing nitrite: if levels stay high, combine the pads with partial water changes and reduce feeding until the readings fall. Once the filter is fully established, you may not need them continuously.
