The scanner is small, lightweight and robust, and its ergonomic design is not intrusive for the animal being scanned. It reads all FDX-B 15 digit and FDX-A 10 digit microchips and EM4102 chips, and will display if a 9 digit encrypted chip is detected. It also reads thermo chips and displays the temperature from BioTherm microchips.

Power is simple: the internal battery recharges from a computer USB port or a USB mains adaptor, and a wall plug-in charger and car charger cover home and travel.
