Hatching your own nauplii

For the best hatch, the maker recommends one level teaspoon of eggs and 32 g of Hobby Artemia Salt per litre of water. At 24°C the nauplii hatch after roughly 24 to 36 hours, and at 20°C after about 30 to 40 hours, so a warm spot speeds things up. Keep the water moving with gentle aeration, then switch the air off, let the empty shells float to the top and draw off the orange nauplii from the bottom, ideally with a light shining nearby. Rinse them in a fine net with fresh water before feeding them to freshwater fry. Starting a new batch every day or two gives a steady supply while the young fish grow.
