Salt, warmth and hatching times
To get started you need brine shrimp eggs, salt and water. Hobby notes that any iodine-free salt can work in principle, but its own Artemia Salt is blended to match the salt water of the brine shrimp’s native habitat and carries traces of plankton for the newly hatched nauplii, which gives the best results. Temperature sets the pace: at around 24°C the nauplii hatch after roughly 24 to 36 hours, while at 20°C it takes about 30 to 40 hours, so a warm spot speeds things up. Start a fresh batch every day or two if you want a steady supply of live food while raising a brood of fry.
Good to know
Keep the breeder somewhere warm and well lit, and rinse it out between batches.
