Hobby Thermica Control – 23W

Hobby Thermica Control is a terrarium heat mat supplied with its own control unit and temperature sensor, so you can set and hold the warmth you need without buying a separate thermostat. The target temperature is adjusted directly on the controller, which has bright illuminated digits that are easy to read. A memory function keeps your setting if the power fails, and a built-in smart chip guards against overheating. The mat is sealed to IP67 against moisture and dust and fixes in place with double-sided adhesive strips.

Choosing a wattage

Pick the size by the floor area you want to warm: the 6W pad is about 18 x 10cm, the 11W 20 x 15cm, the 23W 30 x 20cm and the 36W 45 x 20cm. A pad covering roughly a third of the floor lets one end warm up while the other stays cooler, so your animal can move between the two. Hobby says it suits terraria and paludaria, and also greenhouses or aviaries where a constant temperature is needed. Stick the pad to the outside of the enclosure with the supplied adhesive strips, place the sensor where your animal rests, and adjust the controller in 1°C steps; a separate thermometer helps confirm the reading at animal level.

Good to know

The mat is splash-resistant (IP67) but must not be used under water. Mount it outside the enclosure and never cover the whole floor, so a cooler area remains.
