Replacing the impeller

Signs that the impeller needs changing include rattling, grinding or a clear drop in flow even after the filter has been cleaned. To fit the kit, unplug the filter, remove the filter head and open the bayonet catch of the impeller cover, then take out the old impeller together with its shaft and bearings. JBL advises always replacing the impeller, shaft and bearings together, which is why the kit contains all of them, and the pulling aid helps remove bearings that are hard to reach.

Good to know

Unplug the filter before servicing, clean the impeller chamber when fitting the new parts, and check the impeller whenever flow drops or noise increases.
