JBL ProTemp S 100W UK-plug

JBL ProTemp S 100W is a safety heater with a built-in thermostat for aquariums of 50 to 160 litres, supplied with a UK plug. You set the target temperature on the dial anywhere from 20 to 34°C, and the thermostat holds it to within about 0.5°C. A star-shaped ceramic heating element passes warmth efficiently into the water. The heater tube is made of unbreakable quartz safety glass and sits inside a protective basket, which shields fish and the aquarium glass from direct contact. It is watertight to a depth of 100 cm, has dry-running protection and is TÜV tested.

Before you plug it in

This version comes with a UK three-pin plug, so check it suits your sockets before ordering. JBL rates the 100W model for aquariums of 50-160 litres, roughly 60-100 cm long. Position it near the filter outlet or another area of steady water movement, so warmed water is spread evenly around the tank. After immersing the heater, wait about 15 minutes before switching on, so the glass adjusts to the water temperature, and when removing it, unplug it and let it cool for the same time first. Confirm the setting with a separate aquarium thermometer.

Good to know

Slide the heater into its basket, set the dial, then fix it to the inside of the glass with the suction cups so it sits fully under water.
