Kiezebrink Gum Arabic 500g

Kiezebrink Gum Arabic 500g is a complementary feed for gum-eating species, including sugar gliders, marmosets, tamarins, bush babies and fork-marked lemurs. In the wild, gum is a regular part of these species’ diets, from a small share for tamarins to well over a third for bush babies. This natural gum acacia is harvested from two sub-Saharan acacia trees, Acacia senegal and Acacia seyal. It is a complex mix of saccharides and glycoproteins with a high fibre content and a natural brown colour, and it also works well as enrichment.

Preparing the gum

The gum is supplied as a powder. Mix 1 part water with 2-2.5 parts gum arabic and stir with a spoon; this gives a firm texture that takes about three hours to dry. It can then be offered in feeders or smeared into holes and crevices for animals to work out.

Gum arabic is a complementary feed, so offer it alongside a balanced main diet. Keep the pack tightly closed in a dry place so the powder does not clump.
