Up to 90% of its power is emitted as heat, focused towards the basking area, which makes it a useful night-time heater for species that need warmth after dark. Choose 75 W for smaller enclosures, or 100 W and 150 W where more heat is needed.

Good to know

Use the bulb in a ceramic-socket dome fixture rated for its wattage, out of your reptile’s reach, and control it with a suitable thermostat such as a dimming thermostat. Switch off and let the bulb cool before handling it.
