Positioning the tube

Mount the tube along the warm end of the enclosure, close to the basking spot, so your reptile can move between strong UVB and shade as it would in the wild. Keep the distance between the tube and the basking surface within the range given on the pack, as UVB weakens quickly with distance and mesh guards reduce it further. Note the fitting date on the tube or in a diary so you know when a replacement is due.

Good to know

Run the tube from a T8 controller of the same wattage, mount it inside the enclosure with no glass or plastic in between, as these block UVB, and use a 10 to 12 hour day cycle. Replace it as the pack advises, since UVB fades before the visible light does.
