Fitting

Cut the airline between the pump and the aquarium and fit the valve with the arrow pointing towards the aquarium, pushing the tubing firmly onto both ends.

Getting the most from them

Fit a valve in every airline, including each line from a multi-outlet pump, as one unprotected line is enough to let water reach the pump. They matter most when the pump sits below the water level, for example in a cabinet. A valve adds a little resistance, so very small pumps may produce slightly fewer bubbles. The bulk pack leaves spares for later replacements.
